Hall China

The Hall China Company was founded in 1903, in East Liverpool, Ohio, by Robert Hall, who died a year later. His son Robert Taggart Hall took over the management of the company soon afterwards in 1904. They produced many different wares including china, kitchenware, tableware, teapots and much more.

In 1910, much of the plant was destroyed by vandals but soon they got the plant up and running again. In 1911, Robert T. Hall developed a leadless glaze which was used in many household products. In 1919, they purchased the Goodwin Pottery Company and started making teapots. Hall teapots from the 1920’s – 1950’s are highly sought after by collectors. In 1927, they added another plant and in 1930 opened a brand new facility to replace all three locations. In 1932, they introduced kitchenware. In 1933, Arden Richards produced Autumn Leaf, exclusively for use by the Jewel Tea Company, which happens to be the most popular pattern today. In 1936, they introduced dinnerware follow by refrigerator wares in 1938.

The Hall China Company is still in operation today.

I have approximately 20 vintage Hall tea pots that I would like to sell. Many of them have gold on them. I’m having trouble finding out how much each one is worth. Where can I find that information?

I have an autumn leaf double oven dish. The stamp says Hall’s superior then there’s a circle with tested and approved by a name in cursive. Then it says jewel, home makers Institute. Under the circle it has quality kitchenware. Also salt and pepper shakers in same pattern.
Should I hold on to them?

    Thank you for your time,
    Therese Lane

I have a beautiful old lamp that I picked up at an estate sale and it has a sticker still on the front of it. On the silver, lamp shaped sticker is printed “Genuine”, then “Hall China” and below that is printed “white lamps” . The lamp is obviously old because the cord was frayed badly. The background is cream colored and the pattern on it appears to be a delicate pink hibiscus. There is one fully open flower, 2 almost open buds and several tighter buds surrounding it, all with green leaves that appear to be either hibiscus or rose leaves. The lamp is urn shaped with small gold colored “handles” at the top and a beaded ring toward the bottom that may be brass before it flares slightly to the bottom of the lamp which is attached to a square brass (??) filigree looking bottom. I cannot find any information on the computer about it and if you can shed any light on my treasure as to what the pattern is, if it really was produced by Hall, how old and how valuable it is, I would appreciate it. Thank you so much
