Stangl Pottery

Stangl Pottery was founded in 1929, in Flemington, New Jersey, by Martin Stangl. It was first known as Fulper Pottery, who Stangl started working for in 1910. He left to work for Haegar Pottery in 1915 but came back to Fulper in 1920. By 1924, he was vice president of the company. In 1926, he became president of the company. In 1928, William Fulper died, and Stangl changed the company name to Stangl Pottery a year later, in 1929. In 1942, Stangl started to produce hand-carved, hand-painted dinnerware which became very popular.

I have the Cat and The Fiddle plate and cup set made in Trenton given to me when I was very young from an aunt who lived in Trenton. She might have purchased it between 1958 and 1960. The number on the back of it is #3949 with a yellow marking on the back of the cup and a black marking behind the plate. its about 8 in. Also there are roman numerals on the back VII. Is that the date it was made? Does this set have any value?

I also have six 10 in fruit plates and six dessert fruit plates of the same pattern called fruits and flowers . In addition to the name printed on the back , the name Stangl is also stamped
in white over it. Can you provide more information about these plates?
    Thank you

I have a complete set of Stangl dinnerware in the Orchard Song pattern. The set includes large and small serving platters, salt and pepper shakers, creamer, gravy boat, casserole, appetizer server, soup and salad bowls, 12 dinner plates, cups and saucers, and bread plates, among other pieces. Is there a market for and what is an approximate value. There is a small chip in the gravy boat.

Nancy if you find any FULPER Pottery at the Salvation Army Store HOLD ON TO IT !!! It really seems to be going through the roof ! ( Stangl Pottery began as Fulper in Flemington NJ) There is also Stangl Trenton Pottery.

I own an antique shop on Mine Street in Flemington NJ , across the street from the old Stangl factory, which is now a restaurant/farmers market/art gallery. There was a Stangl museum in one of the old kilns , then it was moved to the historic courthouse on Main Street…now not sure where the pieces are,,,the town probably auctioned them off … A guy named Popcorn Bob offered me a few of the old plaster molds and a few glass shelves the collection was on so I am assuming the town sold the museum pieces…..ANYWAY, Ladies these pieces are sold at auction in this area and are very collectible, you will see them on ebay also but do your research before selling !!! By the way , there is a coffee shop were you can sit in the old kiln and drink your coffee !

I have a full 10 piece set of amber glo that was purchased in 1953 when we lived in Princeton, New Jersey. My father was in the Air Force and we went to the factory to see our pottery being made. I have all of the serving pieces, cups, saucers, the creamer, sugar as well as the decanters for salad dressings. None of the pieces are chipped or cracked. Do you have any idea what a set like this would be worth? Of course it will never be sold, I have a grand daughter that will inherit it some day. Just curious

I have a small pitcher. It’s mint green with gold showing through. It is about 5.5″ high and 15″ around at the widest point. The markings on the bottom are Stangl POTTERY TRENTON, NJ It also has a number 4060 Patent Pending. There is 1X stamped at the top of the stamp on the bottom, and a R with a circle around it by Slangl. Does anyone have any information on this piece.? It kind of looks like a prototype.

Hello – I have a dish that was given to me after my father-in-law passed. He owned an Antique Shop. It is Black on the outside and a very light/pale green on the inside. On the bottom it has STANGL engraved in the dish and your stamp, Stangl Pottery Trenton, N.J 3911 and there is what could be an N or R to the bottom left of your stamp. I would appreciate some feed back on this dish – Thank You.

Hi – Purchased the top part of a citrus juicer/reamer, sponged yellow in color, marked Stangl on the bottom – can’t find anything about it anywhere! Help!

  37. Michelle Short April 27, 2013

I just purchased quite a number of pieces of Stangle. They are mint green in color, banding around the edge of the plate. Some are stamped, some have a dash or two dots of black under the glaze on the bottom. I can’t find a color name or a pattern name anywhere on line. They were a wedding gift to the sellers mother , the seller was in her 60’s. I could send a photo! I would truly appreciate any information you may have.
    Thank you,
    Michelle
